Diamonds - colour

|  Introduction  |  Cut  |  Colour  |  Clarity  |  Carat weight  |

Diamond ring Whilst most diamonds appear white, many of them display hints of colour barely discernable to the naked eye. The closer a diamond approaches colourless, the rarer and more valuable the stone.

Diamonds with a strong pure colour are extremely rare and are called 'fancies'. Amongst them can be found pink, blue, yellow, green and orange.

Colour grades - the whitest stones are graded D, E, F and G.

Michael Hall Designer-Jewellery is usually set with only these highest grade stones that are from conflict-free sources.

I

J - L
Tinted white
These inferior colour grades are used by most jewellers. They usually describe the colour as 'commercial white'. Diamonds of this colour will always be avoided by the discerning client (and also by discerning jewellers).
